Review of A Woman Under the Influence (1974) by Sam C — 14 Jul 2007
If you do a search on Google for 'breath taking','performances' and 'incredible direction' then I hope the first page of results brings this film up. To watch the long, free flowing scenes and be part of the extended family that features in this film is a brilliant and harrowing experience.
The low budget aesthetic do nothing but add to the experience and force Cassavetes to be even more creative in the shoot and the edit. As someone's said below this is Peter Falk and (more spectacularly) Gena Rowlands in the performances of their lives.
Please watch.
