Review of A Woman Under the Influence (1974) by Coby F — 17 Dec 2011
Where do you start with a film like this? This is the first Cassavetes movie i've seen, i'm a fan to say the least. His direction isn't showy but he's so focused and knows exactly what he wants the audience to see.
The acting top to bottom is remarkable. Rowlands and Falk are jaw dropping, especially Rowlands my God what a performance! I thought the moms of each character had a uncanny sense of realism, so I wasn't too surprised to find out they're actually the parents of each actor in real life.
This is a true american masterpiece.
