Review of A Walk in the Woods (2015) by Susan W — 03 Sep 2015
The book was better... with more wry humor and less slapstick. Yes, there are some laughs and Nolte is often hilarious, but this great story as written by Bryson about his walk along the Appalachian trail, was ill served by the scriptwriter and director.
Redford, as Bryson, failed to get across the wry humor of his namesake, which shown through on the written page. It's not a terrible film, just disappointing as it could have been so much better. I also think it would have been better served had the two main film characters been middle aged and not so geriatric.
Bryson and Katz were 40/50 ish when they took their hike. Nolte and Redford are 70'ish.
