Review of A Walk in the Woods (2015) by Joe M — 10 Jan 2016
This is a delightful movie that in the hands of veteran actors like Nick Nolte, Robert Redford, Mary Steenburgen and Emma Thompson is both funny and touching. It stems of course from the wonderful writing on Bill Bryson, which really translates to the big screen.
While some scenes, jokes and lines have changed from the novel, the story is essentially the same: Bill Bryson (Redford) teams up with his old travelling companion Stephen Katz (Nick Nolte) for a hike along America's Appalachian Trail.
Katz is a grumpy, immature recovering alcoholic, very different to Bryson, which makes for lots of odd -couple, buddy movie moments.
