Review of A Walk Among the Tombstones (2014) by Sirnilesiv — 01 May 2016
This movie is a slow weird burn...good...but a little off. I gave it a 7. First the good: it's a nice brisk pace, shot really well, good acting (for the most part)...I watched on a Lazy Sunday. Which is how I would recommend you do too. It's not like a Saturday night movie: for starters it is really violent at times, unless thats how you like to spend your weekend nights; then go cray!
Ok the bad: I'm willing to forgive Arnold having his Austrian accent peppering everything, but his movies are dumb fun. So you let it go. But Liam Neeson as an NYC cop? No way. He just isn't that believable as one. But you can put that aside, sorta. Then there are the weird musical cues that come out of nowhere. Happy music! Sad music! Creepy! It all doesn't make sense. The villains are great villains, but they are hollow and come out of nowhere.
All this isn't to say you shouldn't see though. It was worth it. Just worth the 7 it got.
