It is obvious that, perusing the negative reviews and even some of the positive ones that no one has read the Matthew Scudder series. This film is brilliant. It captured the book perfectly. I could tell immediately thatnthe directo "got" the novels and loved them like I do.
Not one mis-step in the whole film, even to the choice of which 90's songs to include.
