Review of A View to a Kill (1985) by Scott C — 26 Mar 2013
I think I actually prefer this one to "Octopussy", which is not to say I really like it. At least I find the film to be less disappointing and it's not full of idiotic humour. It does, however, take the campiness of the Jaws character and let it run berzerk throughout the whole film.
It's as if the producers figured that since Moore was quite obviously far too old to be playing Bond, the only was anybody could appreciate this film is as camp, so they just ran with it ... straight into the ground.
Christopher Walken and Grace Jones are folsk I usually admire, but not here. Jones can't really act, and here it's as if they expected her to. She's given scenes with some actual emotional weight and she just can't do anything with them.
The less said about the thought of her having sex with Moore the better. Walken seems to realize this film is idiotic and just kind of runs with it. That's fine, but her really carries no weight here.
Many a film has proven that the greatest contribution Tanya Roberts can contribute to a film is to remove her clothes. She keeps them on here.
