Review of A View to a Kill (1985) by Corley J — 05 Apr 2013
The story is about Max Zorin played by Christopher Walken who is planning to trigger a major California earthquake in order to wipe out his competitors. And only James Bond can stop him along with some Bond girl played by Tanya Roberts.
Together, they both stop Max and his sidekick named May Day (yes the humor is really that horribly camp). This is definitely the worst out of all the Bond movies and sadly the last of Roger Moore as James Bond before we see Timothy Dalton as the fourth 007.
The intro song sounds like some horribly lousy modern pop track you'll find performing from an untalented X-Factor contestant. The jokes are so annoyingly unfunny and the cliches are so heavy-handed and predictable that it makes me go to the point of depression.
And because the climax needed to be set somewhere "different" like in those other Roger Moore James Bond movies; 'Live And Let Die' was set in a sewer, 'The Man With The Golden Gun' was set on an island, 'Moonraker' was set in outer space, 'Octopussy; was set in India and so therefore, this movie was set in a construction set for the climax.
Not even 'The Man With The Golden Gun' or 'Octopussy' were both this bad. They gave us some relevance of a plot but this plot makes no sense. Remember in each Bond movie, you get a refreshing beginning? In this one you don't and it's all because of a bad story.
You'd better get lost director John Glen because your movie sucks and A View To A Kill gets a solid 4/10.
