Review of A View to a Kill (1985) by Etienne B — 13 Dec 2010
A View to a Kill(1985)-8/10...the official 14th Bond film and Roger Moore's 7th and last playing the iconic character as. The film is directed by John Glen with the title song performed by Duran Duran(one of the best Bond songs). Yes Moore looks a little too old for Bond at this point but this is one of his best. This time he goes up against renegade KGB agent and industrialist Max Zorin played by the great Christopher Walken, who is great as the albino, psychotic villian. His plan is to destroy Silicon Valley!(where I live) with an unnatural earthquake so he can control the world microchip market. By his side is Amazonian killer May Day played by Grace Jones. The Bond girl is the stunning Tanya Roberts as Stacy Sutton. Great scenes include the opening with Bond being chased in Siberia, the snow-board/California girls bit is great. A daring chase and escape up the Eiffel tower, a great chase through San Francisco with a fire-engine and one of my favorite ending scenes-a harrowing fight high a top the Golden Gate Bridge. This film also marked the last appearance of the beloved Lois Maxwell as Miss. Moneypenny. Roger Moore has been much maligned over the years for this film. because maybe he held on too long to the role, but it is a fitting end to his career in the role...and a very good career at that.
"Reginald Bundy...critic for the times.".
