Review of A View to a Kill (1985) by Jack O — 11 Sep 2018
What's with all the hate on A View to a Kill? Mainly because Roger Moore is too old to play James Bond now cause he's 57 and you can tell by the look of him. One day Roger Moore will make James Bond an old man.
That's one major flaw that we notice but who cares because Timothy Dalton will be playing James Bond after Roger Moore in A View to a Kill. I remember enjoying the action scenes like the fire engine and police chase and Max Zorin played by Christopher Walken flooding the fault by blowing up the mine.
Like I said, the action scenes are the same but for most people, this one lacks the charm of James Bond that they have. The opening action sequence is one time out of place because the filmmakers just put a pop song in the middle of the action sequence.
Don't get me wrong, I like the song itself but seriously, do you have it in here when it's almost finished? Two bond girls which once again I feel the same way for The Man with the Golden Gun.
Stacey Sutton played by Tanya Roberts is a weak bond girl character. She used to work as an oil tycoon but she got fired by Howe. May Day played by Grace Jones is Zorin's lover who works for Zorin and she possesses superhuman strength to make her the strongest bond girl.
Christopher Walken is Max Zorin who won the horse race by giving a injection drug to make his horse run faster and wants to destroy Silicon Valley. Okay, I'm might be alone on this but in many respects, I actually enjoyed this film and despite the old looking Bond, it delivers some good action sequences, a great catchy song by Duran Duran and a farewell performance for Roger Moore as James Bond.
This also has Lois Maxwell's last performance as M. Despite what people said about this, I liked this movie. So I guess James Bond will return in The Living Daylights but it'll not be with Roger Moore.
Next up it'll be Timothy Dalton.
