Review of A Very Long Engagement (2004) by ??Dido ? — 18 Apr 2009
Seems like an easy movie to watch... Until you realize the plot... Unthinkable twists in the tale, first time watchers will be astounded... The love between the two characters has been beautifully portrayed by Audrey and Gaspard... It's hard at first with reading the subtitles and all... but the movie really keeps you on edge... A war-time movie with acttion, suspense and a delicate love story that binds the storyline... Just shows how far a person can go to find love... And how hope can save a lost life...
My favorite scene... The last scene where Mathilde finally meets Manech... And Mathilde just sits in the chair and watches him...
"Mathilde leans back in her chair...
Folds her hands in her lap and looks at him.
In the sweetness of the air, in the light of the garden...
Mathilde looks at him.
She looks at him...
She looks at him...".
