A Very Long Engagement is a beautiful and magnificant love story. Set in the aftermath of WWI, Mathilde hunts for her fiance that many believe to be dead. What results is a movie about the survival of hope and love, even in the face of destruction and death.
I would dare say that this movie ranks with those great love stories of days gone by.
