Review of A Very Long Engagement (2004) by Dryorophus — 17 Jan 2011
This is a solid movie and a decent alternative for the people who like love stories, but are embarrassed to admit it. Remarkable performance by Audrey Tautou, she really deserves a lot of recognition for this one.
Except the yellow-ish color of the movie, I loved the way it was shot, and most of the shots were fantastic. Somehow, European film-makers are a lot better when it comes to wide shots. It was fancy seeing Jodie Foster speaking French fluently and Marion Cotillard not speaking English with a weird accent like in Inception.
Most of the credit for the beauty of this movie goes to Audrey Tautou and the director Jean-Pierre Jeunet. I would pay to see this in movies.
