Review of A Very Long Engagement (2004) by Kareem S — 09 Mar 2012
Ange Bassignano: "Revenge is pointless. Try to be happy and don't ruin your life for me.".
Another master-piece by Jean-Pierre Jeunet about a girl's quest to find her lost fiancee during WW1, Filled with all Jeunet's astonishing techniques from camera motivations to the unique narrative style in addition to a number of the memorable leads from "Amelie".
Jeunet's brilliance -in my opinion-was in making a very delicate and touching film and not turning it into a cheap chick-flick or get sucked into the easy cliche twists that a major number of filmmakers see it as the only way out nowadays, So In my opinion his decision of applying his unique techniques on such screenplay and rejecting the popular formula of making a successful chick-flick is something that acquires great appreciation and recognition.
So simply ... C'est une fabuleux filme and you should watch it. :).
