Review of A United Kingdom (2016) by Matthew Y — 04 Oct 2016
A seriously powerful story of an African King-in-waiting who risks losing his country for the woman he loves, and his potential British Queen who sacrifices hers for the man she loves. Unfortunately, it's given a real melodramatic sheen here, with some ill-advised, one-dimensional, stiff-upper-lipped Brit antagonists, but is saved by fantastic performances from the ever-dependable David Oyelowo and Rosamund Pike.
