Review of A Troll in Central Park (1994) by Travis M — 23 May 2010
"A Troll in Central Park" is another classic from Don Bluth that will continue to get better in time. It's a very kid friendly movie whose protagonist is a troll who gets sent to Central Park for making things grow with his green thumb. I was always very fond of this film and it's actually a personal favorite of mine from Don Bluth. It's a very amusing film and I think that it is because it's not like every other kids movie out there, it's something different, and that works out well with Don Bluth.
This film has a very good cast and very good voice over acting by the cast. Dom DeLuise does a fantastic job of voicing Stanley the troll and Cloris Leachman and Jonathan Pryce were a real treat as well. I'm not going to go about saying that this is one of the best animated films of all-time, because it's far from it, but it is a pretty good film by Don Bluth.
One thing that I really liked about this film is that it has a few songs, but doesn't go overboard with them like so many other animated movies have done in the past. It also doesn't hurt that some of the songs are pretty catchy. I also like the fact that it's a very colorful movie, something that Don Bluth always does a good job at in his films.
