Review of A Troll in Central Park (1994) by Dave A — 01 Nov 2010
Go Don Bluth! Rebel from Disney, take your opressed animator followers with you, and start your own company! You will make better movies than them, no doubt!!....yeah, no. While Bluth made very strong family entertainment in the 80s, with such classics as Secret of NIMH and Land Before Time, he just kind of started sucking for the most part in the 90s.
Case in point, Troll in Central Park. Fail. It's one of those family movies that actually lowers the bar of intelligence for others of its kind. While Land Before Time had a developed plot and real emotion, Troll in Central Park just kind of "key-jingles" along without conflict.
While Secret of NIMH was serious in tone whilst also being entertaining for kids, Troll in Central Park tries to provide as much bright, happy, golden sunshine for your kids. Cuz nothing bad ever happens, and your kids should know it early on!
