Review of A Touch of Sin (2013) by Peter F — 07 Jan 2014
Of all the films I've see this year, perhaps A Touch of Sin is the most difficult for me to review. In essence, A Touch of Sin is a series of vignettes that actually recalls areas of pulp fiction (i.
E. westerns, action films, crime fiction), but delivered in a graceful manner that would seem out of place for a genre film. It's a big-issue film for sure, with director Zhang Ke Jia's showing the utmost fury towards modern China's current economic problems, with all four of the film's stories ending in scenes of horrific violence.
It's not accessible, but it's truly the work of an angry and politicized artist.
