Review of A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) by Marie H — 04 Mar 2009
Brando is smokin' from the beginning...and then he speaks. His embodiment of misongynism goes head to head with Blanche's sensitive vulnerability, and the result can be painful to watch.
A lot of people always wonder why women return to men like these, and I think this movie does of a very good job of profiling this kind of situation. A lot of women report how sexy Brando was in this movie, and if that doesn't answer that question for you, I don't know what will.
