Review of A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) by Mohamed O — 13 Nov 2010
Although nothing compares to the original play, this adaptation I have always wanted to see .. A great rendering by Elia Kazan, fierce scores by Alex North, and the marvellously acted out Blanche du Bois by Vivien Leigh make a classic .. Vivien Leigh managed to embody the sweet fragility of miss Du Bois by a well-studied theatricality .. The cast was great overall.
Tenessee Williams was definitely the subjective correlate of coherent sadness .
