Review of A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) by Josh H — 12 Jan 2011
A Streetcar Named Desire is one of Elia Kazan's best and most impactful films as a director. The film features superb acting by Kim Hunter, Karl Malden, Vivien Leigh, and Marlon Brando. But it's really Vivien Leigh's performance that really makes the film so tremendous.
The film features a great screenplay which was adapted from the Tennessee William's play and is done so flawlessly.
Despite this being Marlon Brando's breakout role, the film is really dependent on the latter stated Vivien Leigh who delivers a tour-de-force performance that really is the saving grace for this film.
A Streetcar Named Desire is a spectacular film that has risen a standard in writing and acting.
