Starring: Marlon Brando, Vivien Leigh, Karl Malden, Kim Hunter.
Hey Stella! This cry of Brando made me tremble, really! Marlon Brando plays, what is to be considered one of finest performances in the history of cinema at mere age of 27 years, as Stanley Kowalski. Vivien Leigh plays the character, which she played countless times on stages, as Blanche DuBois. It is a film that has churned out as much of acting talent from the actors as possible, and that was what the film needed actually. We start to find out, how much some people hide so much truth inside, and come-up with make-believe lies to convince others to either like them or hate them. We have Stanley Kowalski, who is aggressive and imposing force at home, and we have Blanche DuBois, who is full of secrets, deep buried within her.
Film was nominated by Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Marlon Brando lost to another deserving candidate Humphrey Bogart for The African Queen), and brought second Best Actress Oscar Award for Vivien Leigh, Kim Hunter and Karl Malden received Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor, Academy Awards respectively.
NOTE: This is probably my 5th 'revisit' to this movie in 2 years gap.
