Review of A Story Worth Living (2016) by Brad M — 19 May 2016
This film is amazing!
I don't know what all the backlash and outrage is about?
This movie left my wife and I gaping - longing - bursting at the seams ready to discuss what we had just seen! I can't recommend it enough!
When did motorcycle riding and being a man, equate to not talking, or not being in touch with our hearts, or not sharing our stories with our best of friends?
It's been DAYS now since we saw the film, and I feel like I can remember every major emphasis of the narrative:
"We long for a great story" - don't we?
"The story we want has beauty and love in it" - right?
"Whatever story we think is going on, needs to explain both love and beauty, as well as pain and loss" - whoa.
"We all long for a redemptive end to our story" - I sure do.
"A story is only as good as its ending" - wow, so true.
"How do you want your story to end?" - like what you are showing right now in this scene, a family who has broken the cycles of the past and is laughing and celebrating life with healthy kids who married healthy wives and all the hope in the world for a bright future.
....And then the kicker...
"What if your story doesn't have to end?".
Wow.
It would seem to me that any film that was MERELY about adventure, or MERELY full of beautiful motorcycle scenes would be lacking any real meaning...unless there was some commentary on how it all tied into a larger, grander story.
Anyways, I loved this film. It's still affecting me.
Thanks.
