Art. It either attracts you or repels you. There is no neutral ground with art. So, the polarized reactions to this movie are not surprising to me.

Godin defines art as: A human act, a generous contribution, something that might not work, and it is intended to change the recipient for the better, often causing a connection to happen.

The theatre where I viewed the film erupted in applause at the end if the movie, a clear indication that the movie resonated and connected with the audience. Clearly, that was not the experience of everyone who attended this movie at the theater.

The movie and the message of the film resonated with me. I understood that the people on the screen were not actors, but real people who act and behave off camera just like they did on camera. It is consistent with what I expected: Guys taking a first-time, outbound adventure and talking about matters of the heart, talking about life, death, the impact of beauty and tragedy, love and redemption.

ASM and RH, I think what you did was courageous, noble and...yes...risky. (The obvious risk being that some people will piss on it and others will embrace it.) What I liked most in the aftermath is that you guys were true. True. True. Thank you all for modeling something so utterly different. You produced art. I just wanted to remind you that what you did really matters and created connection with so many. Well done.
