Instead of seeing A Star is Born, see Walk Hard The Dewey Cox Story because it plays with the stale conventions taken seriously in the Bradley Cooper / Lady Gaga remake of a remake. Or is it a remake of Crazy Heart (a remake of Tender Mercies)? However, there is one hilarious reason to see this movie.
Bradley Cooper's accent. As the film starts, you try to figure out who Cooper, playing Jackson Maine, sounds like. There are a few camera angles reminiscent of Road House. Then it hits. Sam Elliott.
Like way too close. Then Sam Elliott actually shows up! And he's Cooper's brother, Bobby! A really old brother. Then, Bobby says to his brother that he stole his voice. Sure did.
