Review of A Star Is Born (1954) by John S — 14 Feb 2010
Judy garland is startling - she caught me completely off guard. this is literally one of the greatest performances of the century! how she managed to lose the oscar to grace kelly is a mystery I will never solve.
The cinematography is beautiful, the songs are great, the cast is award-worthy.... I think I would definitely recommend this (if you have 3 hours to spare sometime).
Ps - on a side note, why are there large sections of the movie that are just missing? it's not that old of a movie! what happened to the footage?! I just can't believe pieces of this movie could be lost.
