Review of A Sound of Thunder (2005) by Movie K — 30 Jan 2010
Visual effects were quite bad at times. The whole feel is a B-grade movie. Story is interesting but production low grade. Overall still quite ok. Edward Burns is a scientist, works in a time machine company that let people go back to pre-historic times for tour and hunting.
Ben Kingsley is the money face boss. Catherine McCormack is an ex-crew, the inventer of the computer Tammy, who strongly oppose the business idea because she knew the course of time might go wrong some day.
During one of the trip, Edward's gun malfunction and the 2 clients went to hide. They manage to kill the T-rex and return safely. But they didn't realise the time has been altered. The next trip and they were teleport ahead of the time set.
The company was force to shut down for review. Time wave strikes them and immediately the whole city were surrounded with trees and plants. Edward find Catherine for help. They were granted a chance to use the machine but Edward didn't go to the correct time.
Catherine explain the time are like ripples and it is hard to go back. Then the next time wave strikes and now the city faces total darkness and weird animals evolved starts attacking them. The rest went to find the previous 2 bozos and check if they have brought something back.
Indeed one of them had step on a butterfly. They go back to the company and take the hard drive to go another place for the final jump. Another time wave strikes and Catherine evolved into some weird being.
Edward reach the time and managed to prevent the guy from stepping on the butterfly and inform Jemima to record down everything. She pass the disc to Edward of the same time and now have proofs against Ben.
