Review of A Soldier's Story (1984) by Philip E — 29 Jul 2009
While sharing many plot elements with Jewison's vastly superior "In the Heat of the Night (northern black detective investigates a murder in the Jim Crow South)", "A Soldier's Story" had one of the more interesting characters I've seen in a film, that being Sergeant Waters.
His solution for the improvement of the black race left me wondering what he might have done had he any political power.
