Review of A Simple Plan (1998) by Diane G — 24 Jul 2009
Although I am a huge fan of Raimi's horror, this has to be my favorite film from him. A brilliantly-directed adaptation of Scott Smith's novel (from his screenplay), with a beautiful score from Danny Elfman.
It reminds me of Fargo; a nightmare unfolding during the bleak Winter (I understand that Raimi did get advice from the Coens on how to shoot in the snow). Another incredible role from Thornton. He deserved every award he was nominated for for his final scene with Paxton and Briscoe alone.
