Review of A Simple Plan (1998) by John W — 30 May 2009
A bit, excuse the pun, simplistic. like the coen brothers minus the gorgeous photography, wit, and directorial virtuosity. I enjoyed the billy bob thornton character and thought the film as a whole was well-paced and engaging.
the content itself had power- as a parable about greed, alcoholism, and the failed american dream. but it could have been rendered with better metaphors (the fox in the henhouse and crow shots are embarrassingly obvious).
still, a solid effort.
