Ann Hui is good and strong in depicting ordinary characters and describing their ordinary life. She has to be acute to her surroundings and experiences to make the film so vivid and touch the audience.
I think most of her films speak for Hong Kong people with local setting. Of course, Deannie Yip acts well.
