Review of A Simple Favor (2018) by Christopher H — 14 Sep 2018
Oui! At the beginning of the film, audience members' ears are filled with the ambiance, melodies, and rhythm of French music. I felt like I was imagining myself at a charming café in Paris overlooking the Eiffel Tower breaking and sharing a baguette and savoring delicious wine.
It made you want to get up and dance only to be disrupted by the opening scene with Anna Kendrick recording her vlog. This film will have you dancing through a thriller and mystery to uncover the truth behind Blake Lively's character (Emily).
This movie progresses rapidly on the relationship between Stephanie's cute and quirky personality, Emily's eccentric personality, and the dark history of Emily's past. Every scene adds unexpected twists and turns and often left me with my mouth wide open in bewilderment.
Is the suspected culprit really at stake for the events that unfold in this reimagined noir film full of suspense and thrills that will have you asking yourself, "Who killed Emily?" Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively are sensational in this film despite their repulsive relationship portrayed by their characters.
The next time your mother asks you to do "A Simple Favor" like cleaning the dishes, taking the garbage out, or walking the dog ... the answer is always yes. The next time your friend asks you to do "A Simple Favor" .
.. make a wise decision that won't get you tangled up in a web that you can't get out of.
