Review of A Simple Favor (2018) by Michael S — 14 Sep 2018
A fun romp of a movie - think a more overtly comedic "Gone Girl" mixed with "Big Little Lies".
Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively are both at the top of their games as two moms with dark events in their past, who make an instant friend connection, but almost immediately things go very wrong.
Paul Feig is a very good director, and he makes the right choices here most of the time, although I personally think the comedic tone of the movie is somewhat jarring towards the end.
That's the main complaint I have - overall this is terrifically entertaining, and Blake Lively should seriously be considered at awards season this year for her brilliantly dark and funny performance.
