Review of A Short Film About Love (1988) by Carreh R — 06 Apr 2012
I just finished watching this movie and it is affecting me far beyond what it should and I don't know why. It is the story of a young beautiful man who is obsessed with a neighbour woman who he spies on daily through the window with a telescope.
Eventually they meet and his illusion is shattered and he tries to kill himself. She changes because of him and realizes she has strong feelings for him too. She, too, is very attractive. The acting is superb, the filming and cinematography are beautiful, slow and melancholic.
It is a haunting film about love, obsession, illusion and intrusion on private space that is almost life changing. I am haunted by this film and I'm not really sure why. It is a bitter sweet haunting.
