Review of A Short Film About Killing (1988) by David S — 08 Mar 2010
Rapidly accelerating my infatuation with the works of Krzysztof Kieslowski, "A Short Film About Killing" is about as perfect a film as one could make.
The story is simple, following three different men who meet under different circumstances and where it all leads is both shocking and brutal. I always live by the slogan that "simplicity is key" and this is a shining example, while the premise here is able to be understood by everyone, it begs many questions and evaluates how we all view, well, killing.
The craft of the film is astounding. The performances and the cinematography are both amazing. I still have yet to view the entire Decalogue series (hopefully I won't have to wait too much longer), but if this is any indication of things to come, I'll have an extraordinary 10 hours ahead of me...
