Review of A Serious Man (2009) by Brian S — 10 Mar 2011
This is the Coen's most down-to-Earth film, but it still retains that quirkiness and originality that is expected from a Coen's picture. Stage actor Michael Stuhlberg gives a great performance of a cursed, ordinary man.
The film is steeped in Jewish culture and pokes fun at it, and if you are like me (not Jewish), might not get some of the gags. That can alienate some viewers from the full experience, but it is minor in the full scheme of things (like Armageddon).
