Review of A Serious Man (2009) by Jesse P — 17 Apr 2011
An arbitrary tragedy made light of by a barrage of peculiar characters - perhaps Iâ(TM)ve now seen this Coen trademark once too often. While I can appreciate the bold indifference to drama tradition, the complete absence of narrative arc does hinder my immersion in the events.
Also, I feel the sheer volume of tragedy in the movie drenched the amusement even in the assumedly comedic scenes. All this said, Serious Man is... interesting... and vivid.
