Review of A Serious Man (2009) by Nathanr — 18 Nov 2009
Seen this little wonder twice now, and safe to say its neck in neck with "No Country for Old Men" as my favorite Coen Bros film. Visually speaking, the film is flawless with Roger Deakins once again proving he is the best cinematographer in the business.
In terms of narrative, this film somehow manages to be incredibly bleak yet very, very funny. Then it all sinks in after its over and you can't stop thinking about it. I would gladly see it again just to soak in more.
The performances are great, the editing pitch-perfect, the story mesmerizing in a strange way. Love it, easily best film of the year.
