Review of A Serbian Film (2010) by Charlene & — 08 Dec 2011
It is not very often that I will regret watching a movie. In fact, I daresay that I've never regretted watching a movie. But this came pretty close. "A Serbian Film" is about a retired porn star named Milos who takes one last job to secure his family's future. However, the director of the project, named Vukmir, insists taht Milos must be unaware of the details and script of the film. I don't think I need to go into any further detail than that; you people can figure out for yourselves where that scenario goes.
This movie is so disgusting and so mean-spirited that to watch it twice requires some extreme desensitization. While I'll admit that the film itself is very well-done, it only amplifies how dirty you feel when watching it. Never has a film made me feel so unclean.
The film's director claims that "A Serbian Film" is intended to symbolize people's molestation by the Serbian government, but I'm calling bullshit. Supreme bullshit. This film is just too cruel and bloody to be anything other than extreme torture porn. I cannot unwatch this movie. But I sure as hell will never watch it again.
