Review of A Serbian Film (2010) by Sergio D — 26 Mar 2011
All the time put into this movie, all the money and resources and all of the actors, not once did anyone realize that this was one of the most absurd screenplays? It also surprises me that this garbage wasn't crafted in America.
Don't get me wrong, it's not one of the worst movies I've ever seen, the plot changes enough to maintain some sort of an audience. I guess I'm not a big fan of the 'Huge Controversial' films that others strongly recommend, mainly on the fact that this film had so many other flaws.
The first one being the only reason this movie exists is cause someone wanted to make a movie that was different or shocking, not because they wanted to make a good movie. This is Serbian Film's biggest flaw. They tried too hard to be different for the sake of just being different.
I also couldn't stand the camera work. Atrocious and nasty video quality was a reason for me to turn this film off on more than one occasion, and not because of the graphic scenes.
The big twist ending is predictable for anyone who has ever watched a film or even a porn for that matter & no, it isn't the money shot. Even if it was, it missed it's mark by miles.
Don't give into watching a film like this because it's controversial or a 'Cult-Classic', you're just wasting your time and others by talking about it.
