Review of A Serbian Film (2010) by August S — 30 Aug 2011

I just don't understand or maybe I wasn't meant to. This movie was made well, well acted, excellent photography, great music and that is much as I'll have good things to say about it. Between Baby rape, incest, having sex with a dead body, sodomy, I think this is gross for the sake of being gross.

IF the allegory is suppose to be the rapping, manipulation, control and leaving to die of the Serbian country, it could have been done better. Yes this movie made me feel horrible and disgusting, much like how one is suppose to feel about the violence in Serbia, however, a six year old does not need to be raped in the ass to make me feel this way.

How about accidentally bombing a city with your son in it? I'd still feel just as horrible, and no rape involved. This movie isn't as violent as Saw, Hostel or other glorified horror films, but its content like donkey porn gets to me.

This could have been shocking, innovative, allegorical, in so many other ways--having an elaborate Migram based narrative forcing Milos to do things other than rape and kill? Maybe something along the lines of exploring the mind of an actual crazy leader, making the same decisions, seeing the horror through the people's eyes, just don't rape baby's! I won't stop mentioning it, it creeped me the fuck out.

I'm done, going to bed, this movie can go fuck itself, ART NEEDS LIMITS, this movie is every reason why...
