Review of A Serbian Film (2010) by Jason M — 31 Jan 2013
What can I say about this film that hasn't already been said! Well from reading all the reviews and blogs about this, there has been so much hype about this film. People saying its the most shocking movie ever, and I would have to agree.
..sort of. Yes the movie is shocking and disturbing ( however some of the most disturbing stuff happens off screen) the movie to me was more then just a shocking to be shocking film, the movie in some weird and twisted and disturbed way had heart and more then shocking was a very sad film.
shot and acted beautiful, it is a very well made film! I get that the director was trying to expose Serbia for being a violent and dark place where people will do anything they are told, however he could of done a better job of portraying this analogy, instead of just violence.
I "enjoyed" this movie, it may take awhile for me to watch it again, on a side not I didn't think it was that bloody compared to other films I've seen but that's not to say its not bloody, the themes and what transpires through out the film is what is truly disturbing and Im really glad they didn't lift the sheet off the head of one of the victims to actually reveal it, I thought that was done "tasteful" hahaha that makes me laugh a Serbian film having some sort of taste.
