Review of A Separation (2011) by Amr M — 25 Jul 2012
I can never catch myself bored while watching Iranian cinema :).
This film takes the audience through the details of the family court in Iran, featuring the process of separation of two husbands without forgetting to focus on how the rising religious aspects of life in Iran shapes a lot of tiny to big details in the daily life. And at the same time, the filmmaker lets the story play smoothly without any naive or stupid imposed stereotypes of ideological prejudice..
The whole story is, moreover, about leaving Iran.. which shows from another perspective that there are a lot to "hate" or at least to be bored of in the that country, even for religious people..
This movie is a masterpiece.
