Review of A Separation (2011) by Gerald D — 06 Dec 2012
Wow that was a painful movie. I am not sure how or why it got an Oscar. The movie was nothing like I thought it was going to be. It was uncomfortable to watch as the the wife leaves the husband and he struggles to care for his father.
Sure he gets some help which is nice, but that goes all wrong. We get to see lots inside a very small Iranian court room, first for the divorce, then when the husband is sued by the help. Not too much truth telling going on and it was so hard to cheer for anyone in this movie except the kids and when there looks to be resolution for the daughter there isn't.
I felt like this movie was a waste of my time.
