Review of A Separation (2011) by Angela X — 01 Feb 2015
Watched it for the second time. Love the sophistication and the depth of the movie. Starts from the separation of an ordinary couple, it goes on unraveling the separation of the social classes in Iran, the separation between survival and morality, between truth and false.
It shows an Iranian society in the face of millions of dilemma, as the characters in the movie do. And it makes a society that looks so unique to be much more mundane, whose problems and struggles are so similar to all other human societies in the world.
