Review of A Separation (2011) by Josh W — 16 May 2017
Don't be fooled by the film's title: as a whole, the film revolves around a couple's separation, but the real meat and bones are all of the consequences from that separation, which made the film a lot more compelling and organic.
I loved how morally ambiguous the film's characters are as well, and it's hard to tell who is in the right and who is in the wrong. Of course, if it wasn't for the extremely captivating and raw acting power, it wouldn't have been been as effective.
The plot does get a little jumbled toward the end, and it may require a few viewings to pick up on everything, but it is a well made film that tackles many issues head-on and leaves it up to the viewer just who is in the right and who is in the wrong of such situations.
