Review of A Scanner Darkly (2006) by David S — 28 Mar 2011
With so many right elements, it is a surprise I didn't find it as mind-blowing as it should have been. Stunning visuals casting the style as a metaphor, a perfect cast characterizing brilliance and a plot that is loosely tied into a somewhat weak tactic, this movie has everything and yet cannot fill that void.
Something... some small nuance needs to be added to push this film into immortality, however, as it stands, it is and will always remain as a sub-par b-class movie that may or may not become a cult-figure.
