Review of A Scanner Darkly (2006) by Josh B — 26 May 2011
A mind-blowing animated film utilizing digital rotoscoping animation to add surreal effects layered on top of the performances of the actors. A futuristic look at a society constantly under digital surveillance by government agencies.
A morality tale of dangerous drugs run rampant, where loyalties are fleeting and not everyone is who they seem. Memorable performaces by an ensemble cast of powerful actors, with a haunting soundtrack including Black Swan, by Thom Yorke.
A Scanner Darkly is based on a novel by science fiction writer Philip K. Dick, who also wrote Blade Runner and Minority Report.
