Review of A Room with a View (1986) by Stacy S — 28 May 2010
Who doesn't just adore Merchant & Ivory collaborations so much that you can watch them again and again? The opening scene, which entitles the film, is so superb that you don't want to miss a single word and it fills you with such anticipation of what is to follow.
It's nice to see HB Carter in a sweet and innocent role rather than her more contemporary parts as vampish lunatics. Denholm Elliott and DD Lewis both display their talents ever so well. Julian Sands isn't the best of actors on the screen; however, he's so damn dapper and attractive with his blonde hair and fine butt.
Finally, Dame Maggie Smith is perfectly prudent and prudish as, in my mind, the star of the show. Can't wait to watch it again!
