Review of A Room with a View (1986) by Luke G — 11 Apr 2012
With a cast that includes the talented Helena Bonham Carter, the equally wonderful Maggie Smith, and master-thespian, Judi Dench, in this critically acclaimed film, one would venture a guess that this would be a great film but, sadly, I didn't find anything romantic or awe-inspiring about it.
Helena's Lucy Honeychurch is plain and boring by comparisson to any of Jane Austen's heroines. The story is just as bland and lacking in intrigue, humor, witty banter or any form of excitement.
The only silver-lining in this film was Danie Day-Lewis' Cecil Vyse, but aside from that this was absolutely disappointing......
